Such claims are usually made by scam companies and their stock promoters to hide company dilution. It's unfortunate that some investors still fall for this now well-known false excuse.
Whatever small number of MM shares might have been legally short the day before the suspension were certainly covered on the first day of trading after the suspension expired -- Monday.
