Justice Sunday I offered some vaguely pro-theocracy conservatives the chance to rail against judicial filibusters. Justice Sunday II, not quite as interesting as the original, gave Tom DeLay a chance to explain how federal courts are imposing a "judicial supremacy" over the country, while James Dobson described the way in which the Supreme Court has created "an oligarchy."

And with a bruising fight slated over Samuel Alito's Supreme Court nomination, the Family Research Council has decided it's time for a trilogy.

In response to yesterday's nomination of Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr., I was asked if conservatives were up to the major fight now brewing in the Senate. My response was that some things are worth fighting for and this is one of them. We are ready to rumble! Why? Because this is a moment in history that has been decades in the making. For over 40 years the court has steadily chiseled away at the religious freedoms and spiritual heritage of our nation. The court has in effect removed prayer from our schools and the commandments from our courthouses, and it may soon strike "under God" from our pledge. Family Research Council and the millions of like-minded families that we represent will be full participants in this historic moment.

We look forward with great anticipation to the national discussion that will take place over the next several weeks. It is a discussion that is long overdue: what is the legitimate role of our courts and who should create the laws and set the policies of our nation? At a press conference this morning at FRC's headquarters here in Washington, I was joined by FRC's Cathy Cleaver Ruse, Bill Saunders, Connie Mackey and Charmaine Yoest as we announced our plans to air a 30-second TV spot in strategic states reminding viewers how our religious liberties are at risk because of activist judges…. We also announced at the press conference our plans for Justice Sunday III, to be held on Sunday evening, December 4, 2005.

No word yet on whether Zell Miller will be there again, explaining how much he doesn't like abortion and gay people.
