the Close price of SRGE CHANGED from 0.0057 to 0.0055. Anyone care to venture a guess as to why?



That is how dividends work. The price of the stock is adjusted downward on the ex-dividend date by the amount of the dividend. It works that way for every stock that pays a dividend, every time.

There is no free lunch. What you get in dividends you lose in the value of the stock.
