Speaking of apps, I'm looking forward to seeing how the ported Android apps work. Apparently the BB10 OS sports a JVM (Java Virtual Machine)and a Java Android Runtime, making it (apparently) dead simple to port an Android app over to BB10.

First, the good news: if you have an existing Android app you may be able to run it on BB10 via a simple conversion process. We have tried and tested this route and it’s very effective for apps that primarily fetch and display content. You can even do an on-line compatibility check and conversion: https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/android/bpaa/. There’ll be some UI tweaking but that’s minimal effort compared to a complete re-write.

The bad news: if your app uses NFC, Audio, Contacts, SMS, or other types of phone integration, you’re out of luck. These functions won’t be supported and you’ll have to do some development.

Also interesting:

With BB10, the NDK is provided to write code completely in low level C. This, with BB10's support for all POSIX compliant libraries, makes BB10 a great target for porting OpenGL games written in C or C++.
