I think this time I might have discovered what the problem was. Every time I would click on IE over the past few days, my virus scan software logo would pop up. This had never happened before.
I shut off the software (temporarily) and now everything is fine!
It's not a good thing but at least now I can go to the source and see if maybe one of the latest updates is fighting with IE!
