The big line in MAV's is, "This is NOT R/C!" So, in the industry you have to go along with that. And a USMil approved Procerus flight controller is $12,000. Lockheed Martin was smart there.

But you and I know that a radio signal tells servos what to do. So the radio signal is controlling a flying platform. Hence, radio control. One start-up "MAV manufacturer" in the Northwest charges $150 for a battery you can get from a hobby web site for $16.

A Raven B costs $179,000. I believe you and I could duplicate the performance for $3500 OTS. That is why we developed some prototypes and pulled back from manufacture. Our prediction is that MAV's will commoditize. Typical price now is $55K. You can figure out how much of that is trying to recapture sunk development costs.

Argus carries 30 lbs over 100 miles--that is a little different--a true LALE/MALE depending on ceiling. Your R/C experience should serve you well for MAV discussions. Argus as a ground robot and MAV dispersal platform is a great tactic. Your background will be valuable to this board in the future IMO. MAV miniaturization of ISR is what makes the BiB possible. I am delighted to learn this about you, Ren. Sincerely, IndyJonesOhio.
