MPP, have you ever been to any kind of mining operation? That isn't a smart ass question - just that there is drilling on most all mines.

In a deep or underground mine you use a drill to advance the miner in some places.

On a surface mine you sometimes drill to place your explosives.

But, the drilling that was referred to is drilling to analyze where the seam runs - where the ore has the highest grade, the depth of the seam. All of this goes into how and where you are going to mine.

Without drilling you are prospecting and just guessing where you will find the gold ore seam.
