Wow what a biased and misleading article! Congresswoman Blackburn states: "A sale of assets to Wanxiang would transfer A123 Systems’ taxpayer-funded intellectual property to a foreign company." but this simply isn't true and shows that Mrs. Blackburn has not done her homework. The grant was used to fund operations at the Livonia and Romulus plants and was never used to develop A123's intellectual property.

The funds were part of Obama's clean energy economic stimulus plan and were used to hire enough workers to step-up production and drive the price of the electric battery down. Before the 2009 stimulus, the cost of an EV battery was $33,000 compared to $17,000 today. I would call that a success. How then is it an "irresponsible use of American taxpayer dollars" given that Wanxiang will likely not be eligible to collect the remaining $117 million grant anyway? Oh and another thing she conveniently leaves out is that Wanxiang will not be allowed to bid on any of A123's Military or Government contracts.
