11/26/2012 - 9:24:00 AM - The Presidency Minister, Roberto Henriquez, who on Nov. 25 said it was in the ability to cope with the situation recorded by bad weather, on Monday, 26 November, acknowledged that the damage and the number of victims during the floods and landslides in Colon and Panama West, are higher than expected.
About the Cabinet convened by the President of the Republic, Ricardo Martinelli, to call a special session in the National Assembly, in order to get a loan to help those affected, Henriquez said in FOX reports that the meeting will be held at noon to assess the extent of the damage.
The Minister said that the meeting will analyze further the need to pass a budget waiver, which would raise the maximum deficit allowed by law, in order to cope with a situation that has been dramatic.
According to reports from satellites, weather system that affected the Caribbean and has been cleared, said Henriquez, so it is expected that in the coming hours intense rainfall is moderate. This will immediately begin the process of reconstruction, he said.
