How do you compete with that? I have no idea how good the processor is but the Windows license alone should be costing them about $50.


You forget that the retailer takes a loss on many "door busting" items on Black Friday, in order to lure customers into the store. Don't assume the bill of materials for this laptop is less than the asking price.

My point was that, even at a loss, Intel would have been smart to get in on some of the Black Friday deals. As it is, the tablet sales this quarter just got a sizable boost from a single day of sales - the biggest day of the year, in fact - while Intel had barely a presence.

It seems Clover Trail is a great part, but unable to ramp in volume to take advantage of the holiday rush. Intel is going to be impacted by the sales numbers, assuming it hasn't been baked in already....
