This is actually a surprise, and it gives Intel more than an entire quarter's worth of stockpiling for a high volume Q1 launch. It also puts Intel about a full year ahead of AMD for 65nm.

Intel may have Conroe, Merom, and Woodcrest shipping in high volume before AMD ships their first 65nm part. Note that they are predicting mid-2007 to be crossed over, while Intel will be there mid next year. Frankly, you may be the only person on this thread who understands the impact of that.
