JRS: Grew up in Michigan

Born in Painesdale Michigan in the Upper Peninsula and raised in Detroit. The lakes can be treacherous. Getting some 20 foot waves down around Chicago today. Most of my family was in Houghton and Eagle River. Went on a lot of trips there. I used to swim in Lake Superior in the summer. Water temperature was about 45 degrees. Had to keep swimming to keep warm. Lips would turn blue after a few minutes. It was better than standing on the beach and getting bit by the deer flies.
