Thanks for the link. I saw it before and I heard it again today. Dr. Thorpe's model for the POSSIBLE MOA for bavi is both innate and adaptive immune response using a mouse model though his conclusion seems to focus on the innate with the possibility of an implied adaptive immune response enhancement (since no direct evidence of an increase in cytotoxic T cell in the mouse model was shown)- If u think about what natural role of PS beyond cancer, when an injury occurs like radiation exposure or physical damage/wound, the PS flips to prevent the immune response (both innate and adaptive)from doing further damage and also prevent autoimmune response. If bavi was given in this situation, would it cause an autoimmune response. I doubt it- bec the mech of creating an autoimmune response is probably more complex than this. Now, dealing w/ tumors, the immune system probably recogizes and destroys most of them but a few develop ways of overcoming the immune response including a flipped PS, other immunosuppressive ligands, or anti-apoptotic molecules. That is why bavi alone will not be good enough as a cure. The chemo/radiation may overcome the anti-apoptotic signalling molecules as well as induce the innate immune response that bavi will help tremendously. But because some tumor cells will survive and an adaptive immune response can't overcome the several tumor defenses, it comes back.

Has any immune therapy treatment in humans create a cure for cancer or other ailments? I can't think of any at this time, Provenge- i don't think so, CVM multicline- nope, BUT it has some therapeutic benefits in prolonging life which is very important. I believe bavi works also and am heavily invested and looking for more opportunities to add in the future.
