With the bankrupcy of Delphi and the resulting backlash through the auto industry I would think one of two things are going to happen to UIBI. One all auto companies and suppliers are going to tighten spending drastically and let all the turmoil wash out before commiting any new spending, this will surely kill UIBI off for good.

Second senario would be this action of Delphi could shake up the foot dragging and noncommitment by the auto industry to new techonogys that save money and produce better results. Most of UIBI troubles are not that the product is not very good but to get the auto companies with thier endless bueracracy to change anykind of standard is near impossible. Basically it is the same in any large corporation, nobody wants to stick their neck out in case something new doesn't work, everything is decision by committe and that is slow going.

In my opionion the high cost of labor and the unions are not the only problem at the big three, management needs to start making some moves with thoughts on how to improve productiviy and not on who we can blame if something new doesn't work out.
