I have a mexican friend who just bought his first puter so his son could keep up to speed with his school work.He bought an HP desktop and a sevice contract at Best Buys.The puter worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped connecting to the internet.It has been a couple more weeks and it looks like no one else will help him,so even though I am not even half a geek I am going to his place tomorrow to see what I can do.I invite suggestions on what I should look for.Since neither his service provider or his ISP have been able to help him,I suspect this is going to be more than just checking the settings in the dialup window.My friend is a total novice and cannot give me any info about the problem.The operating system will be XP and the internet provider is MSN.I dont even know if the puter is just not dialing or if it is dialing but not making the connection.An example of what I might be looking for is,can the fax function interfer with the internet connection?If you have any ideas,please post all the moves I must make to view the settings you refer to.Thanks in advance for any help.
