Vista Secure Startup/FVE - New Requirement

Will be interesting to find out the details on this new partition for utilities...

Windows Vista Logo Program Client System Requirements, Version 3.0
Version 3.0 Revision Draft 0.61 – 30th September, 2005

>>>
SYS-SEC-3 New! Systems that implement a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 1.2 (or later) and ship with a version of Windows that includes the Secure Startup feature are required to reserve 350 MB for related utilities, outside the main OS partition

A system that implements a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 1.2 (or later) and ships with a version of Windows that includes the Secure Startup feature is required to provide a second hard drive partition, outside the Windows partition, to enable Secure Startup functionality. The partition must include at least 350MB of reserved space for Secure Startup and Full-Volume Encryption required files and utilities. This second partition can be any partition including an existing partition, for example, an OEM system recovery partition.

Design and Implementation Note

More specific details on implementing the requirement will be provided by the 0.7 release of the requirements document.
This utility partition is not for the exclusive use of the Secure Startup/Full-Volume Encryption utilities; it may also contain platform manufacturer utilities.

For technical information about this utility partition, the space within it reserved for Secure Startup-FVE, and tools for creating this partition, send an e-mail to sstartup@microsoft.com asking for the “Secure Startup-FVE Utility Partition” white paper.
