Looking at Inca, the key to their success has been their ability to bypass financing normally required by startup companies, and raising money not normally available without resorting to toxic dilution. If market makers have established a short position with Inca, it could provide a strong tailwind to the share price in their comeback as Inca begins its move to profitability in late 2012. Some unexpected short covering may become a factor. Several dishonest market makers have been fined heavily or are currently under investigation for Naked Short Selling or NSS (See news for Knight, Penson and HDSN). Some Market Makers believed that they could profit by raiding the positions of shareholders of companies through naked short sales and could strangle a company’s ability to raise funds free of major dilution, if at all. Unable to raise funds, the company would not be able take itself to the point where it is financeable save by the issuance of significant common shares. The scenario that gave comfort to naked short’s, is through the capital required for building a company. Market Makers that undertook naked short positions did so feeling they had no risk because once they had crippled the company’s ability to finance, causing the company to fail, they (Market Makers) would never be forced to cover the “air shares” they created. We are all familiar with some of the dirty tricks use to drive down the share price such as the shorting of good news and clandestine activities of many types undertaken to drive down the share price of a target company.
If Inca has been a victim of NSS activity it will soon become apparent. How is that for a conspiracy theory? IMO its a lot more likely than sweat rags for Evans gym...lol
Thank you Evan for providing our financing!
All the above is IMO
Shorters: Have fun with this today, I'll be out all day!
