I didn't see them until just now. The pdf hadn't been prepared yet when I was trying earlier. The surface after the cut is not at all impressive. But, what this statement tells me:

If the shape of the amorphous alloy component is relatively complicated, casting methods for fabrication are ineffective.

is that it is difficult to cast Liquidmetal into the final net shape if the final shape is complex. Thus, other shaping methods are being looked into. I think it adds great support for my theory that the iPhone case was too complex to use injection molding for the final shape. So, they used it in a simpler shape, then used one machining step to finish it up.
