I am not a day trader...most of my trades are designed to be held 1-3 weeks....anyone on this board that has been here for a while or is in the daily OM chat knows I have made pretty good money this year with longer hold swing trades....I use stockcharts.com for most of my scanning....this is one that has worked well for me....it basically looks for an ADX(14) +/- DI crossover and the ADX(14) is above 20 and the MACD Is greater than 0 and PSAR is heading north....here is the forumula in stockcharts....

[type = stock] and [daily sma(20,daily volume) > 500000]

and [Plus DI (14) > Minus DI(14)]
and [ADX Line (14) > 20.0]
and [MACD Signal (12,26,9) > 0.0]
and [Parabolic SAR (0.02,0.2) < low]
