People can you please get with the program. ECDC still has that edge that nobody on this board seem to understand. Let me educate everyone.
Today you can buy an RFID device with GPS modem on it. HandHeld Readers like ECDC's or TrailerSeal like ECDC It simply gives you information of where the RFID tag is being utilized. There are RFID seals and locks like ECDC "TrailerSeal" that has both GPS and RFID on the same device. Don't be fooled by all the server this and server that you are reading form IBM, it is nothing but a smaller version of ECDC GATIS software.
the solution is incapable of giving you real time information without employee interaction. ECDC can do that.
Now to talk about the proprietary nature of ECDC solution that everyone has failed to understand.
When you have RFID separate from GPS you have an incredible solution. the device that IBM is talking about cannot be installed on a vehicle it is strictly a warehouse or mobile application. DHL and FedEx have been using this for years.
When a GPS device installed on a truck can communicate with an RFID reader without wires no connection no joint installation. That's the power of ECDC solution. That's what nobody has been able to do, IBM, Motorola, Qualcomm etc, do you think SAP which dominates global oil and Gas is partnering with ECDC for a joke? that's why it made sense to me when Kay said they pulled the patent application, that's why none of these big boys have been able to do it.
The only thing I hope is that ECDC begin to invest money in promoting the solution. Once they do that its over.
