As most folks know, I've read a lot of stuff from journalists and had a few e-mail exchanges with them about trusted computing over the years. By and large, I'm not impressed.
Then along comes this AUDIO interview with a VIA (Taiwanese chip manufacturer) executive about their new mobile computing chip and its proprietary PADLOCK security coprocessor.
Just give the interview a little time to get going and then start paying very close attention in the 10:00 to 12:00 minute range. It's about that point that the interviewer, David Berlind, COMPLETELY dismantles the VIA executive's arguments for NOT supporting Trusted Computing Group standards. This is about as good as it gets. Oh, and Barge, you'll find some good stuff in there, as well.
Berlind CLEARLY gets the value of trusted computing... in an in-depth, multi-faceted way. Definitely give a listen. It's worth it. I'm still chuckling... the VIA executive didn't know that he had been invited to a trainwreck.
