In Space, No One can hear you scream.
No chatter on any subspace frequency. Uhura is doing her nails. Sulu is peering intently into the screen at some undefined point directly ahead. Mr. Scott has left a post-it note at his console, but nobody has read it yet. The Captain is in sick bay being treated for a possible STD, but this is only a rumor. Yeoman Janice Rand called in sick for her shift today, but we don't think there is any connection to Kirk getting treatment. Checkov has Super Mario Brothers on his display and he is losing badly.
As for Me, the First Officer, I am trying desperately to figure out how my investment in Tivus has gone so very wrong. Was it bad information? Did the market just suck worse than I had assessed? Is something going on "behind the scenes" as humans often out it? No information of any inherent value to me as an investor seems to be forthcoming. My great, great grandfather's (mother's side) investment into Verizon many years ago which eventually gave rise to what we, throughout the entire Federation, call "communicators" has paid out handsomely over the centuries.
Further study is clearly called for here.
