According to Yahoo financial key statistics for NOK Balance Sheet:
Total Cash (mrq): 11.94B
Total Debt (mrq): 6.40B

mrq - most recent quarter (had to look it up).

It seems NOK is facing substantial expenses going forward with respect to IDCC. NOK could look upon those future substantial expenses as a discount premium on a buyout offer for IDCC if it chooses to. NOK is currently experiencing negative quarterly earnings but one way or another NOK will probably pay those future substantial expenses related to IDCC or file for bankrupty. JMO.
