Actually in most businesses the preference is for a deeper commitment from top management. Short term for shareholders indicates uncertainty for the business especially in the marketing area of the company. Once a marketing strategy is determined and agreed upon, the goal then is to execute that plan and ensure that it stays in place so that there is a long term effect from that plan.

Short term limits are detrimental to the long term value of any public company.

In addition when your management has skin in the game there is the foundation for a long term commitment. Though at any point I could get run over by a truck on the 405, short term is not an option for me.
