Bulldzr re fuzzy math and misrepresenting the numbers

No I am not misrepresenting the numbers. I am trying to accurately calculate all the actual and potential share dilution that has occurred since 12/31/98. When you calculate a percentage increase you divide the increase in number by a base starting point. Therefore dividing the actual (6m) and potential (12.7m) increase in IDCC shares, which total 18.7m, by a starting point of 48.4m at 12/31/98 is a mathmatically correct calculation. To divide a number increase by an ending point after the increase is not the correct way to calculate a percentage increase.

As to why IDCC is currently showing 53.6m basic and ONLY 57.9m as the fully diluted weighted average shares outstanding at 12/31/02, please see the two following posts from this weekend:

The main point is that sooner or later all of the outstanding equivalents of 12.7m at 12/31/01 will also eventually factor into the calculation of fully diluded shares and EPS, if the market price of IDCC stock goes above all the various exercise prices, and all the stock equivalents fully vest and become exercisable. I would think that when IDCC successfully resolves Ericy and Nokia/Samsung then the preceding ifs will eventually become true.
