Sag, when I took over this board, there was no moderator and there were no rules in the Ibox, only vague rules that were previously listed in early posts.

One of the rules was that one had to post by midnight.

That was the one that bothered me the most.

I would sometimes be reading posts and the deadline would slip by. Other times I would doze off while reading posts, and wake up after midnight. So, I asked for the board so I could set the rules and change that particular one.

The other rules I think came from JXM's thread on SI.

Originally the point spread was two points. That seemed to cause a lot of ties, so we moved it to three points and then instituted the decimal point rule, to eliminate ties.

There have been almost no ties since going to the three point spread, but the decimal point keeps coming up when the NAS closes a few hundreths away from where someone would like it to close.

As I said before, I have no problem with changing the rules, but lately the consensus has been to leave the rules alone.

As it now stands, the decimal point is only used as a tie breaker, and that always goes to the higher WAGer.

IOW, if two WAGers are ten points on either side of the close and the NAS closes at say 1300.01, then the higher wagger wins.

Fair?

Who knows?

I am open to suggestions and opinions.

But until we change the rules, rules is rules.

Have fun,
Phil
