Indeed. Sure would be nice to have ocean going containers with the ability to be tracked from point of loading, (door), to destination arrival in another country, (door).
I've been importing containers of goods for over 20 years and after getting our container #'s, we purchasers could track them ourselves. The improvements to logistics would be enormous. The last 3 containers I received were a nightmare and knowing exactly where they were would have solved sooooo many problems. Tired of getting answers like "It's on the water, that's all we know", "It's on the train somewhere between Oakland and Salt Lake, and they have a stop to make." "We lost it and think it's in Timbuktu". :>)
