It goes back to Understanding the English Language...Terminated and Finished have two separate meanings!!...fwiw

REALLY???? I like to think that I have a pretty fair understanding of the English language!

ter·mi·nate (tûrm-nt)
v. ter·mi·nat·ed, ter·mi·nat·ing, ter·mi·nates

2. To occur at or form the end of; conclude or finish: a display of fireworks that terminated the festivities.

I guess if you really want to go with the negative slant...Finished can be negative too!

5. finished - brought to ruin; "after the revolution the aristocracy was finished"; "the unsuccessful run for office left him ruined politically and economically"
