American Energy Development’s 4,200 acre White-tail prospect is located in Northern Michigan an area known for prolific Niagaran reef structures exploited by Royal Dutch Shell, BP, and proven shale acreage that counts players such as Chesapeake, Chevron, and Encana. Located in a play that covers about 2,500,000 acres within the proven oil bearing 12 -15 mile wide reef belt, reefs in the area range from 50–400 acres in size and are 200–700 ft in depth. The two largest reefs drilled have both been drilled in the Northern Trend are the Chester 18A field, with 14 millions barrels of recoverable oil drilled by Royal Dutch Shell and the Grant 13 field which has approximately 47 Billion cubic feet of recoverable natural gas.
