Simpson, man you are real close. Let me try to vaguely fill in the rest. As fuente correctly stated, every one should treat this as speculative thought, heresay, gossip, etc. This is on a message board and should not and I repeat should not be used to make investment decisions. I can because I have personal relationship with a party that made me aware of what is happening, but you don't know him and you don't know me. Gossip. I hope we are clear on this. I will not mention any names as I do not want to ruin those relationships. Just for transparency sakes, I will not buy/sell any BIEL stocks for the next 7 days unless FDA approval comes.
JJ was/is an interested company and had a feeler conversation in late 2009. BIEL(allegedly) made a projection about what they thought the company was worth. They were far apart, but JJ indicated that if BIEL was to prove marketability, they would of course rethink their thinking. P&G at about this same time through an enterprising brand manager, put together a spreadsheet that indicated that this BIEL product could cost another particular brand of theirs almost 40% of that market share. Now, what is not well known to the general public is that there is a strong bond between present and past employees of P&G let's say from around the brand manager level and just below that. P&G decided to put BIEL on it's radar. You have heard the phrase keep your friends close and your enemies closer. We'll rumor has it that they decided to keep BIEL close. They of course did not want to make an offer either since they felt they would get into a fight with JJ. Now, there are two main firms that are handling the distribution for BIEL. One is Greenwood (Simpson already listed some of the past experience of it's principals) and the other is the Cueta International Alliance. I wonder what the name is of their largest company that they distribute for. Well it is P&G. Now P&G did not recommend these distributors to BIEL but how is it that they both have ties. Coincidence.
But you ask, what brand does P&G have that that would be worried about little old BIEL. They are not big into pharmacueticals like JJ. They do have a major brand that is threatend. It is Ace bandages. That spreadsheet that I mentioned earlier showed that BIEL products could put a dent of anywhere from 28 to 40% of the market in customer purchase of wraps to help with back, knee, ankle, foot pain. Their product is not therapeutic at all. This could be a 200 to 400 mil hit if BIEL is succesfull. So they want to keep a close eye on this and they don't want JJ to have it for the same reason. They also feel, allegedly, that it could be a great fit under their ACE brand and be integrated into some of their wraps.
Please treat this as gossip and heresay and do not make investment decisions based on this but just remember this when something comes across the headlines in the future. And while I am on the subject of rumors, another company is showing some interest. Merck, but not the US firm, but the one in Germany. They think it would go good with their product line but maybe more interested in partnership instead of an outright buy. Rumor only.
This is as far as I am willing to discuss this at this time. I have tried to make the board aware but realized that you could not get all the pieces without some input from me. Just put it in the back of your mind for future reference.
