no it's an opportunity cost issue, which is economics 101...there are Trillions of dollars being bought and sold every day that has various expiration dates, why would their be a bond market if it worked the way you're suggesting then? Exactly, it couldn't work, you need to read econ 101 and learn what "opportunity cost" means...
