"~~~~Why would the entire DoD staff (minus 1) let VirTra terminate them instead of signing a noncompete agreement? ~~~~~
---------------------------

I am failing to wrap my mind around this one too. Who would quit a job over a noncompete contract??
Ive signed them for jobs before. Ive even had one that gave the same sign it or quit now, ultimatum. Non-compete clauses are barely worth the paper they are written on. Obviously, Everyone wasnt planning on starting their own competing companies using Virtra secrets. It can't stop you from working for a different employer in the same field. There is no way these bright employees could think the company was going to (or be able to) sue everyone that found future or improved employment down the road. They are common, and generally considered a good faith document. The only caviat would be, don't advertise your current companies secrets as trade to gain employment somewhere else.

So why does everyone in a department leave when presented with one? Something is missing here as well."

My exact thoughts too. Either there's more to the story or the guys that left had a master plan to exploit VirTra!
