I spoke to a person at DTCC this am. Seems that the DTCC only deals with brokerages and not the general public. The person I spoke with thought that the broker should have probably have advised me in writing of the action they were taking. The person also stated that they could remove the shares from my account without my permission which definitely got my attention. When I brought up FINRA rule 2110 he was not aware of the rule so that makes his credibility somewhat suspect in my mind. He was speaking like the brokerage firms can do what they want with the account which was rather odd. I am taking his responses as heresay at best. I will be getting on FINRA.ORG to see if Rule 2110 has any teeth.
