mikeymac, one problem with factory built systems is that the proprietary motherboards frequently only have 3 PCI slots. This can be a problem if you want a sound card, NIC card, and one or more video PCI cards.

Most commonly available non-proprietary motherboards (IE: custom built/home built) have 5 PCI slots. That's going to give you a lot more room to do what you need/want to do.
