yeah, with canadian issues you had to pay capital gains tax on the dividend stock, but I didn't have to worry about that since I'm not canadian. But yeah, it makes sense, I remember now that if a stock goes private, the buyer has to pay (hopefully a premium) on the current public shares. And yeah, it's a wash if you buy it back if the repurchase occurs within 30 days from the sale.
