I am not sure about Canadian tax laws, but in the US you can get the money from a stock going privet and reinvest it in a stock from the same industry (or same companyas in this case) without incurring the capital gains tax.
(reference to stock washing)

I'd assume a smiler mechanism is in effect in Canada.
