I really do not know what to make of my incident but it seems quite different from what you describe. All my virus and malaware checkers seem to work and find nothing. I even used ESET used by a friend for one of his toughest trojan attacks and it found nothing. So I am wondering if somehow I maybe did not have had a senior citizen moment.

I have used the same password for the life of the computer (approx 3.5 years) when suddenly it did not recognize the password three times in a row. What was disturbing was seeing a different logo on the screen even if it was in the same general format and color as previous one.

After the third try the computer shut down and rebooted and all was back to normal. I expected not being able to access files or virus updates but none of this occurred. This computer has been haunted with BSOD for the last year so anything is possible.
