At this week's America's Growth Capital conference SKS indicated an annoucement from Microsoft involving Wave would be forthcoming, however I don't see what MS has to gain from promoting Wave months ahead of the Windows 8 release unless it's for the benefit of the developer community.

If MS is truly committed to trusted computing through utilization of TPMs, MTMs (ARM TrustZone) and SEDs, and if Wave is integral to their effort ahead of Windows 8, then we could see some promotion of Wave in the coming weeks or months for the purpose of developing the TC ecosystem. Wave's CSP, WEM and ERAS are just several critical components that could very well be necessary for the developer community to become aware of.

I still believe MS will need to walk a fine line regarding the promotion of trusted computing as it pertains to Windows 8 for the enterprise market since Wave provides legacy solutions that could slow sales of the new OS. Consequently I expect the enterprise and government market will take longer to unfold, as is usually the case with new operating systems.

The consumer market could move faster and may be where we see MS do the most promotion for Windows 8 trusted computing capibiliites, particularly for features such as trusted online banking. This could be the reason we've been reading a lot about the planned consumer push for Windows 8. The consumer side is where most new operating systems see their first growth, and in conjunction with the new ultrabooks and tablets, we could witness an all out marketing campaign. Hopefully trusted computing will play a big role in this.
