What means this for GTE?

Airship Systems

Kestrel is developing a new range of small, fast airship systems for use as UAV's, Remote platforms and telecoms units. The range starts at 14ft up to 280ft.

The platforms are powered by both internal lithium polymer batteries and a lightweight genset plus a set of high efficiency photovoltaic cells on the upper envelope. The genset allows the vehicle to operate for up to 3 months at a time. The current structural systems are developed over in Germany and are successfully demonstrated all over Europe. By combining the airship technology with new advanced avionics and materials, Kestrel is able to produce a new exciting range of lighter than air vehicles for the next century.

Along with the smaller airship systems, Kestrel is working on larger systems using its new "Dual Ducted" propulsion system. The new propulsion package can be fitted to high altitude systems due to its efficient motors and its light-weight structure. The motor package used in the propulsion system is designed to be used in battery powered vehicles and is already TUV certified for use in aviation.

PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT the GTEL system & Kestrel Aerospace Ltd is no longer working on that project.
