Thanks for all the warnings guys, but I'm not the slighest bit worried. Statistically I'll be safer in Mazatlan, than in places like Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto etc, and certainly safer than most big US centers.
Have friends that live there, more that travel there every year for the last 20+ years, none of them, including myself, have ever had the slightest problem anywhere in Mexico, other than Shelley had her purse stolen in Cancun 25+ years ago... but she shouldn't have left it sitting on a restaurant floor.
You just don't do dumb things, same as anywhere else.
Won't be at a resort, staying part time with friends, part time with relatives and part on other friend's boat doing some cruising on the Sea of Cortez...and a little fishing.
