E*Trade values are probably because people holding these in margin accounts would have had their account value drop, possibly causing margin calls to be placed as shares are blocked.

Looks like this is just a way for them to appease clients using margin. (I've never understood why people purchase stock on margin... and daytraders should have separate accounts for daytrading and "buy and hold" securities like this.)

(Mine are in a margin account, but that's only for purposes of being able to trade same day as a deposit or to buy after a sale without having to wait for settlement. I see a value associated with the contra-cusips now as well.)

EDIT: to clarify, I meant to point out that I never trade anything that could possibly result in a margin call, and I don't understand why people would put themselves in that position.

I have a social disorder (although it's not quite full blown Asperger's), and can come across differently than intended...if you're offended by something I've said, I probably didn't mean it with such animosity - please take it with a grain of salt. :)
