What is a fake pump? Is it similar to a fake punt?


I remember seeing something similar several times before usually on Fridays with iWeb.
I always thought and wrongfully predicted that the merger news had leaked, but then nothing followed.
I often wondered why someone thought it was important to pick up 500k on a Friday afternoon.
