If Ford didn't take out a loan long before the crisis, they may have gone under like everyone else. Mullaly was smart for wanting to make some changes at the right time to need that loan and that saved them. To me, GM just seems to be an oversized company that should probably break apart into smaller companies. At least into two categories of, Military development/contracting and Personal vehicles.

Ford is the best investment I've made in a while. Go F!
