FARGO (AP) - North Dakota has little snow so far this winter, and that isn't good news for winter wheat and alfalfa producers.

The Agriculture Department says in its latest crop, livestock and weather report that snow cover protection for alfalfa is rated 98 percent poor, and for winter wheat 94 percent poor.

Average snow depth in North Dakota as of Sunday was two-tenths of an inch, compared to more than 18 inches at the same time last year. No snow accumulation is reported in the west central, southwest and south central parts of the state.
