Olddog: Time periods begin to run from the date of "service". Service can be accomplished on the date you provide the document to opposing counsel. The "Certificate of Service" is attached to documents to show the Court the date it was mailed, faxed or hand delivered to your opponent. If we can show, that NOK or their counsel actually got the documents on the date shown on the Certificate of Service, then the time begins to run on that date.

For example, if we faxed the documents to them, then the date begins to run on the date faxed. If merely mailed, then the time begins to run on the date received. If served by a process server, then the time runs from the date of personal service.
