The Machinist: Both my husband and I thought it was one of the worst movies we'd rented in ages. The acting was stilted (if it was striving for uncomfortable, edgy direction, it consistently failed to find it's own quirky reality to help you accept the plain old awful acting and stupid writing all the way around). The anachronistic soundtrack was like from the 70s and didn't fit or work AT ALL. A few times we both cracked up simultaneously. Even Jennifer Jason Leigh bugged the living hell out of me. My husband was smart enough to go to bed halfway into it. I kept waiting for redemption.

The director had no clue whatsoever and the obvious ending was shamelessly predictable. 1 out of 5 pickles.

But the ridiculous refrigerator scenes did remind me of a BRILLIANT movie! Requiem for a Dream.
