I first saw Elf with my friend Loraine and we cried, screamed and stomped!!! Then I took three neighborhood girls to see it for Christmas (11, 12 and 13 - or 10, 11 and 12 at that point?) - they wanted to see horror movies but I assured them this was GREAT (It was their present but I wanted to see it again). Anyway, I'm screaming and kicking again (the scene where the Dwarf/Station Agent lead comes running toward Ferrell across the table and Ferrell says, "oooooh, look at yooooooou" kills me every time I see it. I adored the movie, corn and all. Ferrell's childlike personality is endearing as hell.
So, these girls were merciless. They kept looking at each other over me and in front of me as if to say, "she's a goof". They were rolling their eyes - witches! Fighting over who is sitting next to me which at least was sweet - but they kept taking turns!!! During the movie. Now I'm getting angry because I want to see it again. Then!, because kids like to sit in the front row and I had to look straight up at the screen, the back of my hair was fanned out like a ferris wheel and sticking straight up by the time it was over, so now they were making fun of me behind my back all the way out of the theater, pointing to my hair to people and giggling - they think you don't see them. I had no recourse, I started singing out loud in the lobby, humiliating the hell out of them. They were like "Stop! You're embarrassing us!" "Don't mess with me", I said, "I have no shame".
TX, Raz. Great review of Diamond Men.
