I understood that a wedge hole is the following:

first they drill a hole: for example 800m deep.
When they see interesting drill cores (and they know at what dept it was), they go up with the drill to let's say 600m and try to drill under another angle.
Because the first 600m had already been drilled, a wedge is much cheaper than drill new holes from ground level.
I only tought it's very difficult to make wedges because not everyone can make another angle with the drill bit without crashing the bit.

The reason why they make so much wedges is because they found gold in almost every core so it's cheaper and they have newer zones that are tested.

I hope my explanation is correct. If not please feel free to correct me.
