(COMTEX) B: Broadband air pipe on trial

Jan 13, 2003 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- A solution should be
available in Sydney in July 2003 for broadband lovers without cable or DSL in
their location. CKW Wireless (CKWW), which paid $A9.5 million for 5MHz of
spectrum in 2001, has been busy establishing four base stations in central
Sydney and at North Shore locations such as Chatswood and St Leonards. CKWW's
service will give access to ArrayComm's i-Burst "data pipe through the air" at
rates similar to fixed access services. CKWW director, Judy Slatyer, says that a
similar service will be provided for Melbourne, followed progressively by
Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart and Darwin.
