TXP Expands Test Capabilities JUNE 01, 2005 PR Newswire
RICHARDSON, Texas -- TXP-TEXAS PROTOTYPES, Inc, global provider of prototyping electronics manufacturing services (EMS) for original equipment and contract manufacturers, announced that its Photonics Division has expanded its optoelectronics testing capabilities. Testing facilities and services now include long haul/metro/access optical test bed systems, 40 gigabit error rate test systems, TOSA and ROSA accelerated aging systems, temperature cycling and thermal shock chambers, vibration test, shock test systems, fiber integrity test systems, IL/RL monitoring systems, 10G /2.5G module test systems, PD-AC/DC test systems, LD-AC/DC test systems, and passive component qualification testing. TXP testing services qualifies photonic parts and subsystems for communication infrastructure technologies.
The new photonics facilities in Richardson, Texas have 2500 square feet of cleanroom manufacturing space. In addition, TXP Photonics Division works in partnership with the Korea Photonics Technology Institute (KOPTI) in Gwangju, Korea, providing access to over $100 million in Telcordia system level test equipment.

“The primary challenges with high speed optics are not optical,” said Michael C Shores, president and CEO of Texas Prototypes, Incorporated. “Electronics and test are the real challenges. When testing for optoelectronics it is necessary to determine the true output, or the electronic signal that is converted using a photodiode from the optical signal. Optoelectronics have the highest level of electronics, so testing is critical. TXP has expanded its resource capabilities in test equipment and test engineers to provide a complete complement of testing capabilities to optoelectronic design and manufacturing companies.”
